Microscopic pumping of viscous liquids with single cavitation bubbles

چکیده

A cavitation bubble expanding and collapsing near a rigid boundary develops directed jet flow towards the boundary. In case of perforated plate, some passes through plate thus acts as pump transporting liquid from one side to opposite side. The transport is rather complex, time dependent varies with geometric parameters connecting channel. Therefore, we first model for large range then compare regimes experiments using single laser-induced bubbles. simulations are based on Volume-of-Fluid solver in OpenFOAM account surface tension, compressibility viscosity. resulting flux generated velocity channel obtained discussed regards dependence geometry, viscosity stand-off distance plate. general, high rates achieved long cylindrical channels that have similar width produced by bubble. At low distances combined thick plates, an annular inflow creates fast thin jet, also called needle , which approximately magnitude faster significantly thinner than usually encountered microjet. contrast, plates small distances, pumped direction via reverse .

Interaction of lithotripter shockwaves with single inertial cavitation bubbles.

The dynamic interaction of a shockwave (modelled as a pressure pulse) with an initially spherically oscillating bubble is investigated. Upon the shockwave impact, the bubble deforms non-spherically and the flow field surrounding the bubble is determined with potential flow theory using the boundary-element method (BEM). The primary advantage of this method is its computational efficiency. The s...

Liquids with vapour bubbles

We propose a model for liquids with bubbles calling upon the theory of continua with microstructure. In addition to the contraction and expansion of bubbles due to pressure already included in models available in the literature on such continua, we take into account possible phase changes at the bubble surfaces. To begin with, we consider here the simplest constitutive assumptions for both phas...

Scaling laws for jets of single cavitation bubbles

Fast liquid jets, called micro-jets, are produced within cavitation bubbles experiencing an aspherical collapse. Here we review micro-jets of different origins, scales and appearances, and propose a unified framework to describe their dynamics by using an anisotropy parameter ζ > 0, representing a dimensionless measure of the liquid momentum at the collapse point (Kelvin impulse). This paramete...

Fission of Collapsing Cavitation Bubbles

High-speed observations (for example, Lauterborn and Bolle 1975, Tomita and Shima 1990, Frost and Sturtevant 1986) clearly show that though a collapsing cavitation bubble approaches its minimum size as a coherent single volume, it usually reappears in the first rebounding frame as a cloud of much smaller bubbles or as a highly distorted single volume (see, for example, figure 2). This paper exp...
